Impact Lab 2: People Design Intensive

About This Project:
As students of design at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), we were presented the opportunity to participate in a project based on real-world problems. This project involved a 3 day design intensive, consisting of interactions with our partner (OrangeSky) and continuous group work to research, brainstorm, prototype, and present ideas regarding the brief. The brief our group chose asked us to find possible solutions to the issue of young Australians becoming the fastest growing segment of people experiencing homelessness, hardship and loneliness.

Orange Sky reached out to us as design students to attain an insight into the modern day issues their association are faced with. Choosing the topic of young people, our intensive group formulated mind maps of ideas and debates over which solution would be the most effective. We finally chose the implementation of an "Orange Sky HQ". This solution was cost effective, realistic and attainable in a 3 year time line. The impact of the HQ would effectively aid students struggling mentally, financially and physically in a university setting. We cannot predict what students are enduring day to day, so with the HQ being a place of support, connection and understanding, it aims to help young people.

Here are some pictures of our team working on solving the dilemma this brief presents, as well as slides demonstrating our final concept design, of which was presented to OrangeSky.
