Author of three albums in the early 90s, Slowdive was generally misunderstood by his contemporaries who preferred to indulge in the fashionable Britpop and emerging grunge. However, this group was an undeniable influence on all forms of shoegaze, with an outlook that was as unique as it was radical. In 2017, the cult formation took on a new, admirable artistic momentum of coherence: the amplitude of Slowdive opens up towards new dimensions.
Six years later, Everything is alive offers itself to us by going further into the art of luminous melancholy and timelessness: this latest delivery pays tribute to loved ones who died in 2020, a heavy theme, where the misty atmosphere is pierced by dazzling rays. This refined balance, between synthetic layers, saturations, reverb and catchy melodies, perfectly illustrates the title of this fifth opus: everything is alive! Here, hope dissipates dark moments with panache, in a dizzying and mastered space.
