Inked, a history of tattoos.

Reels (Instagram format) presenting the project.
Inked is a crazy project that I started. A crazy project where I meet a lot of tattoo artists and tattooed people. A project where stories, lives, passions and work are told. Unknown stories and often misunderstood that deserve to be brought to light.

Who are these people who belong to this tattooed community? Who is hiding behind these drawings inked under the skin?

I seek to know and understand why we tattoo. Why for thousands of years Man has sought to permanently ink patterns under the skin. Why over time has this practice been controversial? Why today, especially there is this strong desire to tattoo again?
Is it a fashion effect? Is it a passing fever? And why does tattooing raise so many questions and debates?

Through meetings and interviews I try to understand this desire to get inked.

I tried in this book to tell you more and introduce the world of tattoos. Coming from the origins thousands years ago to today, I retrace this misunderstood story in these pages.
A non-exhaustive story but an important one that needs to be told and known.

Inked tells. Inked tells you.

Inked is a representation of tattoos through the years since decades ago until nowadays. It represents tattoos in his cultural aspect and historical visions.

It tells stories of forgotten tributes around the world from Indonesia to New-Zealand. Each tributes used to tattoo themselves on specific purposes and meanings, telling stories through their skins.
But Inked tells also us, our days and our generational differences. Where tattoos were a synonymous of mischief they are now used to illustrates lives or just to illustrates things the person liked.

Through conversations and interviews of tattoo artists of different ages, I sinked in this second part of the book to understand what motivates them to inked skins as their jobs.
