Illustrations for the hydrotherapy pool at Kingfisher Special School

For this project, I worked with the Kingfisher Special School which provides education to children with severe and complex autism and learning difficulties. I visited the school and worked with the children to create textures and sea creatures that would be used for illustrations.

The idea was to combine textures and drawings to create a selection of illustrations telling a story of a magical seascape and beach view which would be viewed along the corridor leading to the Kingfisher Splash hydrotherapy pool area. They needed to be bright and engaging for the children to view as they entered the pool area.

I used the textures and drawings the children had created and combined them with my own illustrations, creating a selection of images that followed one another and telling the story of Stoller Bay and Rothwell boat.

Photography and hand-drawn illustration were used in this process, using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create the final illustrations. Each illustration was then output on large acrylic panels and installed at the school.
