"The 2023 gate"

This piece was originally created for a halloween special, with the aim to not immediately gravitate towards the darker colours but equally have a sinister feeling. The concept idea thumbnails shows experiments of different story lines: perhaps the gate has a spirit that one has to conquer, or if there's water in between the land and the gate that one has to pass, or the gate is simply a national treasure that holds the ghosts of the past, that one never dares to pass through again.
But as time went on when I kept re-experimenting, I realised that this gate would be a better fit as an opening piece for 2023. The Chinese zodiac animal for this year is rabbit, and I wanted to show the idea of going from the past into the "next level" in life.
Two rabbits, ready to pounce into the unknown with courage, hope and faith.
