A client commissioned a side table for her bedside that had a shelf so she could store her books as she does a lot of reading. After a few concepts this is the design she chose. It is made out of birch plywood and uses no nails, glue or mechanical fasteners to hold it together.
This is what the finished product looks like all set up next to the clients bed.
