FIX is a project focused on recovering wet solid waste containing microplastics from industrial washing machines and converting it into a new material, generating value and preventing it from ending up in the environment.
Graphic Identity
FIX proposes to provide a solution to the microplastic waste that is released during the washing process. Therefore, FIX, in English "to provide a solution", aims to do just that, to find a solution to the waste; specifically, from the design of the new material created from it, which can be produced in 3D printing filament format. With these two basic concepts, we began to form
the identity. The logo had to contain the name of the project and make reference to the 3D filament and following the concept of "fine line" we created the whole identity. In this, illustrations have been created that follow the same concept, applying elements referring to ecology, sustainability, wellbeing and, most importantly, Girbau washing machines.
In addition to developing the entire graphic system, the communication of the project was carried out, both internally and externally, thus developing different action plans. To begin with, we created our project base.

Mission: To prevent microplastics from ending up in the sea in order to save the species living in the sea, the planet and ourselves.
Vision: That Girbau's industrial washing machines of the future have this filter and collect the waste generated by washing to create the material. And that this process is implemented autonomously in washing factories or self-service.
Values: Circularity, Sustainability, Well-being

Once the basis of the project was defined and we knew what we wanted to communicate, we researched the different profiles that could serve as examples to create our communication. Finally, we directed each piece of information to a specific audience from a specific channel, and little by little it has been realised.
Applications
Several applications have been designed based on the new material and graphic identity explained above.
On the one hand, a 3D printing filament has been developed from the new material made from PP and microplastic waste. Its diameter is 2.85 mm in order to avoid irregularities in its shape, in addition to the fact that this is a totally viable and accepted measure in additive manufacturing today. The whole study and viability of the filament has been carried out at DFactory and Disseny's facilities.
DFactory and Disseny Lab facilities at the UAB. Also, with this filament, a marketable spool of 700g and a diameter of 2.85 mm has been developed. Thus, taking into account that the percentage by weight of encapsulated residue is 3% and that up to 0.5 g of microplastics are released in each wash, it can be stated that the spool contains the residue from up to 47 washes.

Likewise, as a consequence of the creation of this filament, the need arises to design a spool to wind it on and a packaging to store it in. Therefore, a spool for 3D printing filament has been developed that consists of the union of the spool and the packaging in a single piece in a way that reduces the environmental impact produced by this type of product and meets the graphic design requirements created for the project.
In addition, the aforementioned graphic identity was applied to the packaging to visually and corporately refer to the FIX project brand. The illustrations form a large part of the design and are what give the project its characteristic identity, in addition to the FIX logo. Also, the graphics have been developed to express in detail all the specifications of the product.
Also, many other applications have been developed from the graphic identity shown here.
