PART 1

Mapping data from a video clip, which is about movements of one main dancer and two pairs of backup dancers.
My focus of the clip is the negative spaces formed by the movements of the main and backup dancers.

PART 2

SECTION / SECTION MODEL
Sections out of the mapping.
A concept of negative spaces into sections.

SECTION
Pulling out new information of negative spaces.
Indicating the highest and lowest points of each piece of negative spaces vertically and horizontally using dots and connecting them to create a graph-like line works.

#1
Darker gray areas- a new set of data from negative spaces.
New section cuts- negative spaces become positive spaces;
black and white areas become new negative spaces.

Same information with different values of opacity.

#2
Cutting out negative spaces of each piece of former negative spaces.
Black areas- spaces formed between two sequential negative spaces.
Former negative spaces act as positive spaces, and section cuts become new negative spaces.

SECTION MODEL
Sections- void; three straight section cuts- spines to hold the pieces together.
Capturing the flow of the movements by arranging the pieces in a fluid manner as shown in the 3-D model.

PART 3

LANDSCAPE / GATEKEEPER'S SPACE
Design a realistic or fantastical space for a gatekeeper using the construction technique (Ruled Surface).

RULED SURFACE
Having shifted angles and dramatic slopes to have unrevealed views.
It’s meant to reveal scenes/views of landscapen as a person walk through the gatekeeper’s space, which acts like a bridge that connects two distinctive parts of the landscape.
Dramatic slopes also help to give a physical experience as well as to arouse curiosity.

Pieces of negative spaces form a river, which is a transition between nature and urban areas of the landscape.
Curvilinear lines in the nature area and sharp and straight lines in urban side to differentiate the qualities and characteristics of each area.
Different elevation in the urban side–tall buildings; maze-like paths for people to find their own ways to the nature area from the urban side.
