A diagrammatic study of Light as Refraction
as it refracts out from the skylights and onto the walls. This effect through its disbursement of light leaves no shadows as the user reads the book.

Diagrammatic Study of the building from it's most volumized form to the detailed portion of which I studied the light. I was initially interested in the dispersed light in the reading room with the skylights. I had then grown to understand and view light as a pathway through the building; in that from the moment you enter you are walking through light and guided to the two most important rooms within the building which are the Reading Room upstairs and the conference room. As it should be the two most important rooms are also the rooms with the most light in them throughout the day.

Immersion of Light Study
Through an unfolded prospective study I elongated the "pathway of light" that I had studied. then showing the perspective drawings of what a viewer would encounter once in the building I was able to understand how the building utilizes light as a source of movement.
