Beiberg is a fictional brand offering Asian food and products made with locally picked wild garlic. It has a couple of delivery & take away stores in Stockholm and Oslo where the customer can purchase bamboo steam cooked bao and some more East Asian products made with the superfood picked in the north mountain.

Xiao Long Bao - Chinese buns

Xiaolongbao is a type of dim traditionally eaten in China. It contains a small amount of rich,
delicious broth together with its flavourful filling.

The Beiberg signature dish is the original xiaolong buns stuffed with local produced pork
and wild garlic ethically picked in Sweden's mountains.

CHALLENGE

My goal was to incorporate those who are unfamiliar with authentic Chinese cuisine and have no interest in it in the Nordics, as part of the target audience.

To achieve this, I opted for a clean design using blue and white colors in the packaging, although chinese food is often associated with red color. I ensured, however, that the details such as typography and illustrations still accurately represent its Chinese theme. Striking the right balance was a challenging task. I decided to exclude the handwritten logo (the Chinese letters for "xiaolongbao" as seen in the sketch) to prevent it from the design tilting too much towards the traditonal style and making it seem foreign to the targeted group.
