UNRAVEL 
BRIEF: Create a motion graphics on the topic Objective Objects, where you need to pick an object and explore its symbolic potential. Material objects and their use have the ability to inform and shape the symbolic codes and processes of culture. How we use objects and who and what they connect us with ultimately informs the symbols and meaning-making of all communication - objects can be a medium. Objects and their operation can and do inform symbolism and foster narrative as concepts and culture from a material/ physical grounding. 

Choose an object, preferably one you have access to and is of a manageable size and explore or observe its defining physical qualities, the things and/or people it connects and the meaning it defines disturbs or differentiates. The choice is up to you as long as you explore the object visually and via motion graphics, including kinetic typography.

REFLECTION: This was my first attempt at creating such a detailed and lengthy motion graphics. The chosen subject matter for this brief is yarn. It aims to explore the versatility of how a simple ball of yarn can turn into something so intricate and beautiful through the art of crochet. It also delves into how crochet can help improve mental health and connect people and form a community. It is somewhat of a personal piece representing and using my own clothing brand “Sushi Crochets”, which offers a variety of handmade crochet pieces as a client.

I have explored lines, patterns, and colours with the help of geometric and abstract illustrations, voice-over and typography. The key graphics include geometric illustrations such as balls of yarn, some of the crochet pieces, and other illustrations to help emphasise the overall visuals with minimalistic backgrounds. Additionally, I used a candy minimal colour scheme to accurately represent the friendly and casual brand personality I am aiming for. The illustrations are animated in an artistic and creative way that reflects the tone of the brand and connects with the audience in a fun and colourful manner.
