HAZAMA
In this collection, I explore my half Japanese identity, and the complexities and hybridities that are brought with it. By employing traditional Japanese garment making techniques and Western tailoring, the unique ways in which these disparate works intersect and contrast one another are revealed. Emerging from these cross connections, this collection celebrates both Japanese and Western culture and craft. More importantly, as the world becomes more globalized these hybridities will become evermore prevalent with a growing need for representation. The multiculturalism and fluidity of this collection reflects the divers people of the world today and of the future.
