[ Irremediable Exhaustion]
Materials:
Oil Clay, Water
My motif was to create a series of sculptures to illustrate Korean elders in poverty, and for v arious reasons resided to gathering recyclable bottles and paper daily to collect a small reimbursement. Using the maleable nature of oil clay, I depicted their faces during their sleep after a laborious day of work. By crushing their faces into irregular shapes and exaggerating their wrinkles, I expressed that even during their time of rest, they cannot escape the hardships of poverty. Their exhaustion is irremediable.
