This dress was inspired by tea as a symbol of cultural integration. Tea is a commodity that originated from China but has become disperssed throughout the western world through consumerism. The top of the dress mimics a traditional Chinese qipao whereas the bottom of the dress is a western-style train. The tea bags serve as the foundation that links these two cultural elements.
The dress is constructed of 400 lipton tea bags which were taken appart and sewn back together to form a fabric. The tea wrappers were integrated as accents and transformed into accessories. The tea leaves were used to dye the fabric.
