Reimagining Barcelona Pavilion

BARCELONA PAVILION
by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
BACKGROUND
Designed by modernist architect, this project was completed in 1929. Using the Barcelona Pavilion as a basis, this exercise aims to allow students to practice / showcase on their 3D rendering skills. The idea is to have two different concepts by rendering 3D visuals. One to conceptualize the interior while the following one targets the exterior.

CONCEPT 1 (INTERIOR RENDER)
The first concept aims to recreate a retail and art gallery through the use of minimalism. Metal beams at the ceiling aim to stray away from a traditional frame for a skylight while reflecting the space. This language is then spilled over onto the walls to mimic the effect of it dripping down, much like how sunlight flows in. Lastly, white terrazzo textures contrast with the simplicity of the walls.
CONCEPT 2 (EXTERIOR RENDER)
The second concept aims to recreate an outdoor café and Zen garden. A traditional Zen concept aims to provide a calm environment for meditation. In order to enhance the experience, simple furnishing and stone textures are being used. A café is added for visitors to unwind and bask in the surrounding nature.
