The Suburbs Project

This is a passion project about travel, art, people, and the general feeling of wanderlust. Everything you see was shot, drawn, or seen by me. It took 60 days to make.

It’s always intrigued me about travelling with the people all around you. As you notice them more, especially while drawing them, you ask questions about them. Where are they going? Where are they coming from? Are they going to see someone? Or maybe they’re leaving? What brought them onto this train today?

Not only could I ask myself this about the people around me, but also about the things outside the train. Things such as graffiti and signs, done on buildings or trains under the cloak of night, who put them there, and why did they do it?

After a while, I became almost obsessed with the idea of travel and seeing things. A mundane train trip was suddenly filled with so much interest and intrigue.

It wasn’t about the journey anymore; it was about the stories that could be found on the way.
