Visual Identity + Poster Design for 'Delusions and Errors' CAI/ALEX 2022

The exhibition Delusions and Errors is an attempt to play with notions of infinitude, error and insanity in relation to the conditions of the present moment. Twenty-Eight graphic designers, illustrators and typographers from the Middle East and North Africa were invited to create posters in response to the theme of ‘Delusions and Errors.’ The participants were asked to engage with their skepticism, doubts and wonders in search of new answers. 

This journey has produced a diverse array of visual representations ranging from purely graphic to illustrative and typographic solutions that are also represented in different written languages. The works discuss a mixture of social, political and personal topics. 

The posters featured in Delusions and Errors were screen-printed and use a maximum of three colours – except for a few that were digitally printed. 

The inaugural exhibition took place in Dubai during the Dubai Design Week, November 2017 and was included in Weltformat Design Festival in Lucerne, 2018. In 2022, the exhibition opened in Alexandria at Shelter Art Space (Mezzanine) on November 3rd, and in Cairo at Cairopolitan on December 1st. 

The participating designers all come from different parts of the MENA region, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Turkey.
