What if.... They Speak?
Introduction
What if.... They Speak? is a 2D character animated short film that I created for occupational therapy patients. The film is about a group of patients who are learning how to be more careful while performing activities and exercises. The film uses a cut out animation style with motion capture animation software.

The message of this film is that we should be careful while performing activities and exercises. The film shows how a group of patients are learning how to be more careful, and it also shows the dangers of not being careful.
Technical Aspects
I used a cut out animation style with motion capture animation software to create this film. The cut out animation style is a traditional animation style that uses 2D images that are cut out and then animated. The motion capture animation software allowed me to capture the movements of real people and then use those movements to animate the characters in the film.
Challenges
The biggest challenge I faced in creating this film was meeting the client's deadline. I had a very short amount of time to create the film, and it was difficult to make sure that the film was of high quality while also meeting the deadline.
Another challenge I faced was managing the client's expectations. The client had a very specific vision for the film, and it was difficult to make sure that I was meeting their expectations.
Successes
I am very proud of the film that I created. I was able to meet the client's deadline, and I was also able to create a film that is both educational and entertaining.
The film was also a success at the OTICON festival. It won third prize, which is a great honor.
Learnings
I learned a lot from creating this film. I learned how to use cut out animation and motion capture animation software. I also learned how to manage a client's expectations and meet a deadline.
The most important thing I learned is that completing the project is better than trying to make the perfect project and end up doing nothing.
