The project: Designing a beginner’s copperplate calligraphy workbook for Namisha’s online workshops.
Design Brief: Keep the cover page classic yet modern, with a beautiful deep lavender background. Add some design elements to the background, inspired by the topic of Calligraphy. The title is Copperplate calligraphy workbook for beginners. Add the logo and mention Curated by: Namisha Arora in a clear and simple way. The design should be minimalistic. The workbook should have 55° slant lines and grid will be in 3:2:3 ratios. 10 grids will be on one paper and Two Strokes/Alphabets/Numbers will be on one page, the stroke name, followed by the stroke itself with tracing watermark in one row and 4 grids for practice. More to be discussed over the meetings.
The challenge: The challenge was the calligraphy part of workbook. Namisha was able to provide calligraphic strokes as scanned and needed to design the workbook accordingly. Taking the scanned copies set for print was the main challenge. Also the strokes and alphabets must be available as watermarks so that students can trace on them while maintaining the overall width and height of all the strokes throughout the workbook.
