Pineapple styling gel by Shawn is a line of hair styling products based on Shawn Spencer, main protagonist of USA Today's Psych. The purpose of the student project was to create a line of thematic product packaging that reflects numerous facets of a character's personality and story. 

The packaging focused on Shawn's obsession with pineapples -- which are present in nearly every episode of Psych's eight season -- his bright shirts, and his silly and sleek charisma. The brand label "By Shawn" is a parody of a name tag with "Shawn" scrolled on it, an allusion to Shawn's propensity for introducing himself and his partner Gus with off-the-cuff pseudonyms. Each box is respectively themed after one of the personas Shawn adopts and the boxes are color-coded to match different seasons throughout the show's history. 

Pineapple texture is distinctive in their leaves and skin. Therefore, I incorporated that element of touch into the package design by using the pineapple leaves as the method of opening the rear part of the packaging and accessing the styling gel inside. 

The final result is a cohesive package line that markets to young men using the same juvenile, fun personality Shawn uses in Psych.
