Peace? Take a better look.
BACKGROUND
Having in mind the peace sign, a very well known symbol, I tried to compile in the design, the concept of peace, but with a twist, the peace by force, which is a very common method of achieving it, through wars, fights, and many other forms of violence, and, as a result, the first sketch was about nailed hands, forming the peace sign, as if it had been achieved through force.
At first instance, I just did a sketch with the original concept in mind, and later I wanted to keep the hand drawing style in the final design, so later I took a photo of it (I don't have a scanner) and started drawing it in my computer. I wanted to keep it simple.
Some time later, I found information regarding a design competition, and the theme was "peace", and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to send this poster, so I sent it, but with a little change, using the expression "PEACE?" as a title, with the question mark in red, to relate it with the blood in the arms and hands, giving more impact to the question.
The poster was selected as a finalist, among the 100 best designs from students all around the world.
