SMD Planetary Gearbox is a type of gearing system that transmits high torque in a compact form. It consists of a Ring gear, a Sun gear, and two or more Planet gear. In this system, the Sun gear is driven and causes the Planet gears, which are locked in the Ring gear or a carrier, to rotate. This Gearbox is used where there are space and weight constraints but high torque is needed. It is able to achieve this because the load is shared among the multiple Planet gears, while the long shaft design is suitable for driving by rack and simplifying the mechanism.
