Drawing on over 25 years of experience in youth development and ministry, Darren Cowdrey serves as the director of Camping Young People's Ministry with the California/Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in Sacramento, California. Darren Cowdrey is responsible for coaching local church youth directors and children's directors in over 340 churches, managing staff and volunteers, and creating structures for developing young leadership in the conference. Under his leadership, United Methodist Church (UMC) Daly City has also been actively involved in giving back to the community by providing free meals to those in need.

For over a decade, the faith family at UMC in Daly City has been providing free meals to their community. The church's Food and Grocery Ministry is specifically tailored for this purpose. Each month, over 400 Daly City residents receive free food supplies, such as milk, eggs, veggies, fruits, and chicken legs, from the church. Seniors who don't have a reliable source of income constitute the majority of beneficiaries. The church distributes food on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
