EXPERIMENTAL ANIMATION PROJECT: C# MAJOR TO G# MINOR
PROGRESS WEEK 7

This week marks the start of the project production, so I thought I should start with something simple. Therefore I went ahead and tired to compose a few songs for the project that had a C Major scale as well as some Minor scales on the piano. I practiced by getting a feel of some pop songs with similar scales first.
PROGRESS WEEK 8

This week, I had a bit of a problem doing my project progress. Since some personal issues came up, I was a bit later in schedule. I plan to catch up with the progress soon. As for right now, I have collected the background necessary for the entire short animation.

BACKGROUND (NO LIGHT)

This background was chosen to be the background for the animation. However I had the choice to either leave the sidelights on or off. I choose the one without the lights since the background will be desaturated to black and white anyway. But the following also includes the lighted option.

BACKGROUND (WITH LIGHT)

These backgrounds were taken from my own home since we owned a piano. Which would be perfect for the environment. The next step was to start animating.
ANIMATING SHOT #1

The background was desaturated and given an airbrush black gradient in Procreate. After that it was set as the background. Turning to animation more, I roughly animated the first shot roughly in red to make it easier to overlap with the final. The animation is of the character 'E' playing the piano softly. In post edit, the background sound will be included.

PROGRESS WEEK 9 & 10

Due to the abundance of recent works and my recent computer issue, I had slow progress going forward unfortunately. It was quite stressful when my device started to blue screen and several animation files were corrupted. There were few that I was able to salvage and fix up. The progress of the animations are as follows.

SCENE 2, SHOT 4

This is the finished animation for scene 2, shot 4. It is a bit more different from the storyboard since I wanted to experiment more with a melting effect which I think delivers the message better.
SCENE 2, SHOT 3

Here we have out character E singing loudly with mess around him. I thought scribbly version of E would make it look a bit more wacky and chaotic to emphasize the mood. The distorted gurgling sound added later will give it a better effect, so I hope.
SCENE 3, SHOT 2

We have E expelling colors contrasting with the black and white background. Since the spout is more like a dribble and not a steady flow, I try to indicate idea exhaustion with this visual representation.

Most other progress I was not able to retrieve unfortunately. However I hope to be able to make up for lost progress very soon considering the current amount of work and my decreasing health condition. I hope to feel better soon as well. I like this story and representation. An experimental way of burn out visualizing is fun to me.
PROGRESS WEEK 11

The work of sequences continue for this week with two more shots, slowly but surely reaching the end goal. Hopefully with the bases that have already been created, the process will be expedited more faster than the initial planning. The two shots are as follows.

PROGRESS WEEK 12

After plenty of working days, I finally finished all the animated sequences! I was satisfied with the animated visuals at this moment so after long last I can move on to the editing process. The sketchy look of the animation gave it a distressed look which was perfect for the atmosphere.
PROGRESS WEEK 13

This week I started the editing process of the full animation. The editing was done in Microsoft Clip Champ. Albeit it not being my go to software for editing which was Hitfilm Express, it felt much more easier to navigate and had the effects I would like. During this process I decided to add some VHS visual effect filter for more of an old time feel to describe artistic struggle since the early days of musical endeavors. The effect added a lot to the feel and after some final touches, the project should be finished.
WEEK 14, FINAL

After the hard struggle, the full animation is now finished! This was the most fun I ever had creating an animation because of the creative liberty of interpretation and uniqueness in terms of narrative, method, technique and execution.

I present, the finished product!
