For this topic I focused on principles of design. In this project I achieved the principle of balance by creating an overall evenness on both sides of the wreath I created. I began with the yellow circle in the middle to give me and idea of how I needed the branches to look. I began with a straigh line and added the leaves evenly spaced up the line which I created with the pen tool. I then created more lines that branched off from the stem and used the eclipse tool to add berries to the branches. I then warped the branch to give it a curved effect. I then copied and pasted the branch and flipped it over the vertical axis to place it on the other side of the circle, creating my wreath.

 

For this project I used the pattern principle. I began by creating the basic shape of the pineapple with the pen tool, then adding the leaves which I also created with the pen tool. I used different shades of green for the leaves in attempt to give it a little sense of depth. I then created the brown heart shape which I repeated over and over and  created a group. I placed the pattern over the body of the pineapple and removed the excess hearts that overlapped over the sides of the pineapple. I then added a stroke to the entire body of the pineapple and added the facial features which are basically just shapes created using the blob brush, eclipse tool, and the pen tool.

For this project I created my own radial shape. I did this by first creating a pattern of several straight lines. Then I had to unite them into a circle and connect certain points on the lines to create a wide effect on the outside and narrow on the inside. Once I had created this brush I set the radial to a gradient background that fades from gold/yellow to red. I then placed this cat which I cut out in front of the radial because the colors were complementary.
