This prose piece, awarded the first prize in a literary competition, featured my illustrations when published in the newspaper. The essay delves into the identity and decisions of a transgender individual, with the main source of internal conflict being the strong resistance and denial from her mother.
I aimed to make a conflicting image where, on one hand, the surgically-altered body is willingly revealed by the character. On the other hand, the face, representing personal identity, remains hidden behind external elements.. The colors are bright and soft, yet disrupted by bold black lines intentionally added for a touch of discord.
