The idea that started this project was my first squirmy, lurid sleep paralysis experience after several days of restlessness and irregular sleeping patterns. It was a bizarre experience that felt like a nightmare within a nightmare after multiple times waking up in the same situation and in the same period— and yet liberating to feel constrained by your mind but still be fully aware.

I wanted to picture sleep deprivation through paradoxical semiotics showcasing purity and chaos. The wholesome, childish energy derived from my envy for the energetic youth— always moving, always having too much time on their hands— while the wickedness comes from the distressful nature of getting a lack of proper sleep.

It also coaligns with the hectic time of organizing and preparing for our pre-requisite exhibition before graduating college. I made this series as a part of an art installation; it was perfect for communicating the state I was in during that time.
