Positive & Negative Space

Space is generally a measurement of height, depth, and width within which objects move or exist. It is an important part of designing any graphics either digitally or, manually. It can make the subject more powerful in the depiction or may make it less emphasized. Balancing the space is the most important criterion while designing an object, landscape, or composition.

Positive space is generally described as the areas in a work of art that are the subjects, or areas of interest. It can be any form, pattern, landscape, or pattern forming a subject. It can be in multiples in a space.

Negative space is an area around the subject or areas of interest, which makes the subject remain in focus. It lacks details and is mostly empty. It generally gives an emphasis on the main subject part.

In this 1st composition, I partitioned the whole part into two spaces, white and black halves, which compose various images together with various depictions on both sides of the part. I put up various captured image through my phone, depicting the two spaces, and then, used those two spaces on either side.
Example - I used spaces in creating set of images such as mountain coverage on left side of the composition. Then, I put up floral patterns on right side of the composition. Through this, I tried creating a feeling of fulfilment in the mind of viewers.
In this 2nd composition, I depicted nature in an inverse cruel manner having a very impossible scenic view. It can pressurize the viewer in creating feelings of loneliness and fear. I put up various other subjects in between the negative space generated by a bottom-layer image/landscape. It covers the silence of negative ones and diverts the focus of the viewer on viewing another new subject within the negative space.
