Organized Chaos--My StrengthsFinder collage for Intro to Digital Media. One of the first graphic design pieces I did, definitely the first one I was proud of. I believe this was also my first time using Photoshop. While I still like this piece, I've included it more to show the progress I've made in the past year alone.
UVR Poster 2023--This was a commissioned piece I did for my high school show choir last month. It was my first time really working with a client with everything from drafting my first invoice to using graphics they provided. I took and edited the main photo, as well as doing all the formatting work.
The Modern Witch VHS Cover--This was part of my Digital Image Manipulation EPK project & my most recent graphic design project. The front cover is part of a poster I created also for this project. This project taught me how many hours truly go into a project like this & how tedious the work can be. I really like this style though & would love to create more vintage looking posters & graphics in the next couple years.
Environmental Studies PSA--This was part of my work as Promotions Manager for WJMU. It was commissioned by the Environmental Studies program to increase awareness about the major & minor. This was my first big non-homework audio project & I really enjoyed creating it.
Big Blue Rising--This was a hype video I created Fall 2022 for the XC team before our biggest meet. My original intent was to make a short documentary film, but I quickly realized how difficult this was going to be to make while also being an athlete on the team & a full time student with many other responsibilities. This video was a somewhat last-minute way to salvage all the work I had put in & still give something to the team. While I think there's much improvement to be had on the technical side, I am proud of the storytelling aspect, editing, & the resilience I used to adapt and make something that was far from what I envisioned but still good.
Pizza Rat--This was part of a very creative Senior Picture shoot I was asked to do. Anthony had a vision of pictures where he was eating pizza out of a dumpster & while that wasn't quite what happened, we came pretty close to the desired result. This was a very fun, more experimental shoot to do & I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Rye Johnson Headshot--I've been asked to do multiple headshots in the past few months. This was the first I did & one of my favorites. Playing with normal on-campus locations & really low f-stop to make the background feel more business-y.
Gilded Lily--This was part of a visual storytelling project I did in Storytelling this semester. I was trying for a more cinematic photography look to emphasize the emotion of this scene. I shot it in about 10 minutes because I realized the sun was about to set and I needed this picture, so it was a bit chaotic but turned out just how I wanted it!
Gilded Lily--This was another part of my visual storytelling project. The theme was Burnt Out Gifted Kid, so this photo was an attempt to show the pain that comes with this lifestyle. It's my favorite self-portrait I've done today & one of my favorite color gradings I've ever done.
One Spark--This is a photo I took during the Fall '22 Solstice Dance Concert. This concert was a big challenge for me because it was essentially just a dark theatre with minimal lighting, so figuring out the camera settings, position of my shot, & editing techniques that would maximalize the data my camera did capture was crucial.
The High Priestess--This was from my recent Digital Image Manipulation EPK project. I took this photo for the Tarot Card mockup I was making. However, this one I ended up editing more when I was going through the pictures for fun to send to the people involved in the shoot. I really enjoy playing with Curves in my more creative work & I really like the way this one turned out. It's obviously very dark in parts, but I like the blacks fading into the shadows while the whites are so bright in comparison. It creates a very dramatic look, which is exactly what I was going for.
This is Our '05--This last picture is from the track media day I shot for Spring '23. While there were many pictures I loved from this shoot, this one is my favorite. It just feels so crisp to me & truly like a picture I'd see in a professional ad.
