It all started with a single Instagram story. As I scrolled through my feed on August 4th, I stumbled upon a shot of Iceland's volcano captured by Chris Burkard. The same volcano, which also erupted the year before, but I didn't have a chance to see it. Instantly, my wanderlust was reignited. Without hesitation, I texted my friend Ester with that idea, bracing myself for an icy reaction. To my surprise, we had booked our flights to Iceland in under two hours.

Fast forward to September 1st, and our Icelandic adventure officially began. We were a little disappointed that the Fagradalsfjall volcano had once again settled into dormancy. With no pressing urgency, we decided to kick off our trip by exploring the breathtaking wonders of the Golden Circle.

Though the odds of glimpsing the elusive Northern Lights in the early days of September were decidedly slim, Lady Luck proved to be on our side as we were blessed with the displays of mesmerizing auroras every night. Watching the sky as it dances with vibrant hues of green and purple is just pure magic.
The southern expanse of Iceland is renowned for its mesmerizing waterfalls and seemingly endless stretches of ebony sand. Despite spending hours in the car, taking in every inch of this majestic country, it was all worth it.
Looking back on our Icelandic adventure, I'm reminded that sometimes the most rewarding journeys are the ones that are unplanned. Although we had missed the spectacle of the erupting volcano, the post had ignited a spark, motivating us to take a trip that will forever be etched in our memories.
