Mixed media Fashion Illustration

This are the images that inspired my design and background for this project.
D.Inês de Castro e D.Pedro.
This is artwork from someone else, who was also inspired by the same myth that I'm using as inspiration, for my projects and designs. I really liked the texture of the leaves and all the natura around.

Quinta das lágrimas; Coimbra, Portugal.
A photo of the place where D.Inês and D.Pedro used to meet each other, what inspired me here was the leaves and the nature concept, once again.

Mixed media work from another artist.
Although this image doesn't relate to my myth it really inspired me the collage on the background and the watercolour painting, it does give to the fashion illustration a stand out look.

Photo of leaves.
The leaves do relate to my myth and this ones are dieing/drying. The colour and the texture was one of the main things I kept in my mind while doing this project.
You can find this image here:
This was my design done by hand in which I left it half blank so I could scan it and fill i in with a pattern. In my design I tried to make the leaf stand out since it was one of my main inpirations, as I said before.
I used promarkers to colour in the skin, hair and leafs.
I thought it would make sense if I would use a rose pattern in the skirt as it connects with my myth.
This was a background I've made in my visual recording class with soft pastels.
I started by selecting the rose pattern in photoshop; in the image option and at the bottom says "create a pattern", so I saved the iage as a pattern.
After I selected with the selection tool the top and the bottom of the dress and pressed <shift+F5> to fill it in, then I selected the pattern option and used the pattern I created before, with 80% opacity.
After having the pattern finished I moved on to the colour...
So with the selection still onto the top  I used the colour balance tool and moved the levels of it to give it a green and yellow tone so it would match the leaf colours.
And then I done the same with the bottom...
I saved the Image and uploaded it in Pixlr.com to use the blending tool as I wanted to make the colours blend in more in the leaf part, because the promarkers left some stains on it.
I just done it on the lighter side by dragging the mouse towards the outside.
And then I just saved the image and this was how it looked like
This is and old artwork of mine, where I just used pencil and watercolours.
Since I was inspired by watercolours I thought this was an appropriate image to use on the background and also I thought about just taking some parts of it to look like a collage on the background of the model.
So first I uploaded it in pixlr.com/o-matic and tried some filters, this was the best one for the results I wanted.
From the watercolour artwork I just cutted a small part in photoshop and up-loaded again in pixlr.com express to give it some texture.
My idea here was to get some leaf texture onto the watercolour and therefore I selected layers and then the grunge variety, in which I chose the leafy effect.
After it I chose another layer in the default variety, burn. It gave it this orange look which made it much more similar to my dead leaf idea and also made it look like a piece of collage.
This was the final watercolour/ leaf pattern that I've made.
To finnish it I cropped the model around so it would pop up more at first sight and selected the leaf pattern as a second layer.
I rotated the leaf image 90º clock wise and with the sample tool, I selected the colours form the dress and created a sample of the colours in the side of the image, by making a circle with the shapes tool.
I also inserted a small text written in portuguese, with the text tool. I took the text from a portuguese book which refers to my myth and D.Inês de Castro called Os Lusíadas, by Luís de Camões.

This is how the final image looks like and I think it really reflects all my inspiration, the dead leafs, the texture, the water colours on the background, the colours of all the design and the collage idea too.
I'm happy with my outcome the only thing I would change would be the black outline of the model which isn't very straight or even.
