Graphic Design: Discovery Space

I spent approximately one year as a part-time graphic designer for Discovery Space, a hands-on children's science museum. Working closely with the museum director, I designed and wrote copy for fun & informational signage, exhibit graphics, and other materials in accordance with the organization's established brand standards and style guides.

I had fun using the existing brand colors and assets to create a playful, simple, consistent style that appealed to Discovery Space's primary audience of younger kids and their families.
In the museum hallway was a small aquarium that was a big hit with young visitors. To make it a more educational experience, I was tasked by the museum director to create specific graphics and signage that would turn the aquarium into a proper exhibit. I love all things nature and animal, so this was a very enjoyable project for me. I researched the topics that the museum wanted featured in the exhibit and wrote copy that explained them in a kid-friendly way. I also came up with the idea to design "nametag" profiles for each of the species in the aquarium.
I created these instruction sheets and materials for Discovery Space's "Make-uary" program. Kids could visit the museum each week in January to try a new hands-on STEM activity.
Discovery Space wanted to add or refresh graphics for some of their older exhibits in order to make them more appealing and intuitive. I designed these button graphics for an interactive exhibit that calculated how high kids could jump on different planets.
