Subaru Ascent Winter Adventure

Capturing the Family-Friendly SUV in Harsh Conditions

In January of 2023, I had the opportunity to work with Subaru on a winter-themed shoot, where I was tasked with capturing high-quality still images of the Subaru Ascent in a remote location that only a Subaru could take you. The challenge was not only in capturing the right image, but also in ensuring that my equipment could withstand the harsh weather conditions. The temperature during the shoot hovered around -14°F, which made it uncomfortable for the crew and challenging for the equipment. However, with careful planning and preparation, I was able to capture stunning images that showcased the Ascent in a beautiful winter landscape.

To achieve the desired shots, I used a stills rig that was specifically designed to capture images on the "Arm Car" while the video team was shooting motion. The rig was equipped with two high-resolution camera's and a range of lenses to capture different angles and compositions. The stabilized mounting system minimized any movement or vibration while still allowing for the necessary range of motion to capture the desired shots. The resulting images were of exceptional quality and helped to showcase the Ascent in an exciting and dynamic way.

We also wanted to show the car with an actual family, highlighting its family-friendly features and demonstrating where the car could take you while also showcasing the activities that families can enjoy in the outdoors. The family we chose was able to experience the true capabilities of the Ascent, from navigating through difficult terrain to exploring the wilderness with ease.

Overall, the winter shoot was a great success, and I was proud to be a part of the team that helped bring it to life. The images and footage captured during the shoot are a testament to the hard work and dedication that went into making this project a success, and I am thrilled to have them in my portfolio.
