Create three conceptual book covers for ART 235 course in BYU-Idaho to express the author’s belief and focus on the message of Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. One cover will be designed by using only typography with different materials and refined in Illustrator or Photoshop. The second cover will be created handmade and it could be made with physical materials by using different techniques to broadcast the author’s message. The last cover will be my choice and I decided to create it in Photoshop. 

Making a brainstorm is the first step of creation where I can write concepts, motifs, symbols,  or things that I can identify for the project. Also, I can apply them in any project in which I can work with a client.

Sketches brought me the opportunity to imagine many ideas even when they did not work at the time to do it, but by drawing I visualized in a better way the author’s message and work with my visual experiments. Besides, marking research provided me with a good understanding of how works conceptual cover books. 

Doing an research to find inspiration for different conceptual cover books in which I comprehended the importance to communicate the author's message correctly and not making an illustration of the book. 

Making handmade experiments by using different materials to focus on burned things as a theme of my project to use as many possibilities as I imagined. 

Using Photoshop, Illustrator, and some handmade experiments to design my cover focusing on typography. 

Doing handmade experiments was the most joyful work because I know different techniques when I was studying in Mexico a bachelor's in Fine Arts therefore I learned how to work with different materials and refined them in Photoshop made to combine graphic design with fine art to create a conceptual cover book more artistic. 

Manipulating different images by using Photoshop to create this free option for my covers was a fun project because it helps to learn different skills in Photoshop by looking for different tutorials to create my layouts. 

For this typography cover book, I decided to use matchsticks to highlight the symbolism of fire and for this reason, I used one matchstick fired to reinforce the theme of Fahrenheit. 
However, this cover was the most difficult to create because I did many variations and received contradictory feedback where some mates suggested me add texture, saturate, posterize, desaturate, blend, or eliminated texture, or in other cases, they invited me to avoid the theme of fire and I did all the suggestions but by having a lot of layouts made me a little confused because my mind was so saturated with many information. 
Finally, I decided to make it simple and focus on fewer elements to broadcast the author's message.​​​​​​​

The handmade cover book was designed by using the most common motif of Fahrenheit;  books burned. Thereby, I decided to create a physical book burned where people can see the inside of the book by burning the front cover, free-end paper, and other pages of the book to create a hole burned. 
Designing and refining this cover, I had to adjust the title and the author in a different place to give space and create a focal point of the hole burned to let see the inside of the book. 

Building a digital cover was done by using the strategy of contrast of 7 creative strategies. I changed the symbol of the extinguisher cabinet as Ray Bradbury did with his fireman who provokes fires instead of extinguishing and burns books.
The final refinements that I had to do for this cover were to eliminate the photo of the extinguisher and I added the symbol of fire and the book to make a cohesive cover. The color of the symbols was changed after being placed in the cabinet and I used a layer mask to make one symbol and used simple symbols so the author’s message is clear.
