Diwali Social Media Illustration 2022
I illustrated a familiar memory from my childhood in India to commemorate Diwali for Sephora's social media platforms. For me, Diwali brings back memories of an idyllic childhood, much of it sensory. The heady smell of diya (votives) wicks dipped in oil, the perfumed wax poured into earthenware pradeeps (votives), our ancestral home in Kolkata teeming with extended family, and black-eyed fireworks (chorkee) spinning on the floor or ascending to great heights in a profusion of color and sparkle.
