This project asked to focus on the theme of 'memory' - It was completed during my 2nd year of Extended Diploma in Art & Design.

For these two pieces I focused on memory disorders, mainly dementia. I tried to communicate a loss of memory by collaging textures and colours, which could potentially resemble something visually.. but cause the viewer to not quite be able to make it out. Some collaged images include fireworks and bokeh lights, teamed with the use of brushes and blend modes on Photoshop.

I visited an exhibition at the V&A Gallery in London with the theme of ‘memory’. An aspect I found particularly interesting was that it was very interactive and tackled issues about a post-apocalyptic world, in which the leaders were opposed to anything regarding the ‘old world’, like the internet. Various artists portrayed this through mixed media in unique and creative ways. I also found inspiration from fellow artists on Behance; such as Jenn' Gauthier, Lucy Bethel, Katerina Williams and Maryna Hobrzyk. I also found some very well-constructed posters for the NHS regarding dementia.

I feel that the first image shown was particularly successful - it's a lot more abstract, and the colours are very vivid and eye-catching. I would have liked to have created some posters from these photographic collages, but did not have the time. I may revisit this project at some point in the future, if I have time!
