Zine | Origami Packaging for Seeds

An illustrated origami packaging as an attempt to share vegetable seeds with children and encourage them to build their kitchen garden with simple step-by-step instructions to plant them.
The idea originated from wanting to share my joyous journey of building a terrace garden along with my family, and enable the next generation with simple instructions to take their first step towards that journey.
Okra seeds were chosen for this exercise because it is one of the simplest plants to maintain in my region.
The Illustration style was inspired by the children’s coloring book format and the bright colours imitate the vibrance of sketch pens.
The cover includes the 5 important stages of an Okra plant to emphasize their importance instead of only focusing on the end result.
The seeds are packed in an origami packet, which when unfolded, gives the instructions to plant the seeds. Each step is divided by a compartment of color guided by the folds on the paper to learn the folding process for future use.
A small message to the caregiver is added along with a QR code to an article about okra plants.
