The Orphanage Makes Way

In 1891, the Presbyterian Church began an orphanage in Piedmont North Carolina.  At one point, Barium was home to over 300 children.  Farm, orchard and domestic work kept everyone occupied.  The organization has changed many times over the years and change is upon the organization again.  Now a division of Children's Hope Alliance, over 800 acres of idle farm land have recently been sold.  This project highlights historic facilities that will be demolished or repurposed by other entities.
