The character is a Haitian Vodou deity or "god" named Ogun, the spirit of fire, iron, and war. Ogun is part of the "Old Spirits of Vodou" called the Rada Nation, tracing back to the beginning of time. Ogun wears god-like armor forged from stars and moons using the sun's fire. He retains the elements of African traditions in the cloth designs.
In one of his hands, Ogun holds a large fiery hammer that he uses to forge great godly weapons, and he has a majestic-styled elephant-designed helmet in the other, prepared to go to war.
