“Plantón” is the word in Spanish for a sapling. It is also the word for a sit-in. This project takes on both: the green to be planted and the peaceful protest.
This project is about giving the plants and trees the opportunity to walk down the streets of their city, like a small forest peacefully reclaiming its place and respect.
People of all ages are invited to serve as transport for this walking forest. Each person has to decide how to transport a plant in an eco-friendly way. Together we form a great green mass that moves alongside city buses and busy people.
At the end of each walk, the plants are donated to help create more public green areas.
This year I will develop the educational outreach of this project under Brown's Social Innovation Fellowship.
