POLARITY

24” x 24”

Oil, acrylic, shellac, rope, cheesecloth, clay, twig on wood panel.

This piece was created for Luc Trahand’s Polarity project which consists of a song I also arranged and co-produced as well as an experimental dance video. Continuing the exploration in his lyrics, the piece explores dichotomy in both the materials used and with the two figures rendered using contrasting perspectives caught in a perpetual struggle. The red figure to the right is a reference to one of the cave paintings recently discovered in western Thailand in 2020 believed to be between 2,000 and 3,000 years old. There is also a play with light and layers entrapped within the piece but also coming in from without.
