Designing with Letters/Glyphs

Designing with Letters/Glyphs
Sans serif and serif mock-up for project: Designing with Letters/Glyphs
Over the past two weeks I've been working on these two designs using Stempel Garamond, and Neue Haas Grotesk font. One is a sans serif font, and the other a serif font. Both of the designs were made up with the principles of design in mind. Doing this project helped me to see the character/personalities of different fonts, and helped me to notice all of the little distinctions between them. While creating these designs, I didn't look at the glyphs as an object that represented something like a letter, or number, but I saw them as abstract shapes. This helped me appreciate the uniqueness between these two fonts. This is my first time really studying type, as I'm more of a drawer myself. But doing this project really helped me dissect these contrasting fonts, and have a better appreciation for typography in general.
