The Brooklands Museum called for a new exhibit displaying one of their most treasured planes, the Vicker Vimy. Taking cues from the original structure of the plane, as well as the many journeys this plane had embarked on, I developed a structure that reimagines a globe. This was 'exploded' around the plane and housed a variety of exhibition space—from small artefact to rotating panels for aviation uniforms— while centring the Vimy. The inside of the frame was wrapped in linen sheets, same to those used in the plane, and was used to project videos and images of flight, creating an immersive experience of the Vicker Vimy in action.
A series of models were constructed using various materials, from basic MDF to a real 1:1 using proposed wood. Using a projector and short clips of flight, we were able to simulate a somewhat real experience of the exhibit.
