In this project I created a wearable collapsible system. My concept was being disassociated from ballet class after learning I had scoliosis.
When they were making my brace in Turkey my head was placed in a harness that hanged from the ceiling. It was supposed to keep my posture as straight as possible while a plaster mold of my torso was created. The puffy white dress is supposed to represent both a ballet dress and plaster with the use of tulle and the patchwork stitching respectively. I made a sliding joint collapsible system using aluminum flushing which symbolizes my brace.
Medium: Metal, thread, sewing, tulle, cotton fabric and paper clip.
