The project consists in creating a theatrical space, an interior scenography for a specific performance.
I chose to work on "VALTARI" a short contemporary dance movie directed by CHRISTIAN LARSON part of the VALTARI film experiment for the Icelandic post-rock band SIGUR ROS.
Choreography by SIRI LARBI CHERKAOUI.
I do not own any of the visuals extracted from the movie itself.

THE CONCEPT
Experimental theater, which initiated first with the art of performance, differs from classical theater by a need for free space, involving the spectators in the area of the stage, to the extent of being part of the performance itself.

Free space is created to provide many possibilities for carrying out the same scene with different elements of theater : seats/sound/light/platforms/panels/ all in constant motion to serve the experimental scene.

A- Modular Seating Cage Unit
Spectators Seats are suspended onto a metallic cage, on which they are fixed by cable ties.
This cubic shape allows multiple dispositions of the seating charts depending on the experimental theater piece performed.
