HeLin Buddha hall , also known as Helin temple, established at Sui dynasty, named Baihe temple at that time. Located at Baihe mountain, Baihe county in Qionglai, it was 14 acres, and it’s a famous Buddha forest and tour resort. Wei Liaoweng named it “helin Buddha hall” at Nansong –first year of Zhaoding when it maintained ,(year 228). It named Helin temple at Qing dynasty. The existing buildings plus gate of mountain, aisle, second door, front hall and back hall， there’re five layers in all and rooms of monks at left side. The grand hall rebuilt at ming dynasty, there’re Sakyamuni himself and three avatars in the hall, Bodhisattva、Maitreya、Skanda in other halls. Screen wall is about 10 meters high, 9 meters long, the plaque of regular script “Helin Buddha hall” is 2 meters high in the front, colored glaze of flower and birds quadrel on the back side, openwork carving pottery glaze “Pan nong xi zhu” in the middle, it’s very exquisite. There’s a Heshan reading platform at the helin Buddha hall backyard,the school place of famous counsellor remonstrant of Qiongzhou—Chang AnMing in Jin dynasty and the rest place of QiongZhou famous person Wei LiaoWeng, he wrote “record of building Heshan(mountain) ” to record the life story of Chang AnMing and the process of built HeLin Buddha hall ,the existing reading platform was rebuilt at Qing dynasty by Hepei, eastern, southern ,northern walls were made of narrow stone. this quadrangle building has two entrance --front and back, houses are Irimorizukuri building with very imposing appearance. There’s a statue of Wei Liaoweng in the lobby of reading platform, he wear a robes , very vivid.
There’re the grand hall, the hall of heavenly kings ,Guan yin hall, jieyin hall, Sutra Pavilion in the temple , and this temple is in the fragrant cloud of incense and Buddha music. There’s a tower on the top of the back mountain and there’s a Maitreya Statue at mountainside. There’re siming storey、wanghe pavilion、lelin pavilion in the temple, they are hidden among the towering nanmu( silkwood) ,flowers and grass ,you can watch the urban panorama on Siming storey and west tower. there’re 60 calligraphy treasures , chinese couplets and plaques of Zhao puchu, Longlian, Bianneng, Huang quan, Zhang aiping, Ma shitu, Yangchao and so on in this temple.
This temple is full fill incense. There’re so many devotees of Buddha go to pilgrimage in an endless stream, probably over 100 thousands pilgrims go to this temple at the first day of chinese traditional calendar every year and the road will be blocked entirely till the fifteenth of Lunar year, never allowed any car passing, so the devotees are full fill the road. Living animal ceremony opens at March the 8th of Lunar year annually. There’re over 100,000 people participate this spectacular ceremony, and it’s so hard to see the scene warm like this. There’s a plaque “BaiHe mountain” written by ex vice-premier TianJiYun in person. you could feel peaceful and refreshing when you’re walking along the thousands stones steps and pass through the towering trees under the shade, you can overlook the whole city on Wanghe storey and the junction of west river and south river, you could find out what “bridge bow tower arrow” is, according to the legend that southern bridge built for sit on a bad dragon to avoid flood, this bridge is low at both ends and high in the middle( just like semi-circle) and built “HuiLan Tower” at the east of this bridge ( the second-highest hollow brick tower in China), when the sun rose up, you can see the reflection of the tower and the bridge cross on the water surface, just like an arrow on the bowstring point to the west, then you could see bridge as bow and that tower as arrow.
