Until the Statues Come Down (2020)

Documentation of the protests that rose in the wake of George Floyd’s murder during the summer of 2020 in Richmond, VA and New York.
Richmond's protests congregated around a statue of Robert E. Lee, a Confederate slave-owning general during the American Civil War. In the span of a few nights, his statue was defaced, while statues of Williams Carter Wickham and Christopher Columbus were torn down by protestors.
New York protestors occupied City Hall for a month beginning in late June in an attempt to influence the outcome of the City Council's budget vote for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1. The vote was considered a referendum on funding NYPD.
