Travel nurses are a crucial part of the community, especially in the age of the pandemic, but their living situations do not currently live up to the standard that these essential workers deserve. Travel nurses often get assigned a small trailer or hotel, but this situation is not sustainable for the high stress job for a long period of time. This design will create a livable place for travel nurses and their families for semi-long term use. A duplex community will be designed for travelling families to feel a home away from home, while accommodating somewhat short term living. The community will provide amenities that travel nurses would miss from home like a gym and pool. Mental health is a vital factor in a sustainable space, and healthcare workers need to have this as a priority by having a livable space that accommodates their needs. In the age of a pandemic as well as beyond, large cities, such as DC have a need for travel nurses due to the large population. This community will be located relatively close to downtown DC and is a short bus ride away to surrounding hospitals.
