The Proverbial Wisdom assignment asks for the development of a quote into an Instagram post.

Initially, I had to find a quote to use and ended up using a shorten version of a quote because it surpasses the 15 words limit. Afterwards I had to find 20 different fonts to potentially apply in the thumbs but the designs I came up with take a large amount of space, so I had to imagine the fonts on the thumbs. The thumbs were made with the idea of gifts, past/future and how people will read it. I also kept in mind the close ideal to the Taoist of letting life just flow and focusing on the present.

Once the thumbs were done, I had to develop 3 thumbs into formats and compare them to determine which one is better, and the Ying and Yang was chosen by family.

The main problem when it came to the next step is the original design was cultivated to be a Notan (black and white) so when it came to introducing color into the design, I had to show the Ying and Yang at the center while the background color is not just a single color, so I reversed the background color from the Ying and Yang color but that also means the Ying and Yang pops out and conflicts with the text there making the text a tad bit unreadable.

Finally, I had to make a mockup of the quote on an Instagram post, but I didn't want it to seem like a real post, so I recreated some Instagram pages in Illustrator.
