Japanese Notan
The assignment starts off with a simple write 20 ideas to make into Notans and develop 8 of them.
Japanese Notan is a design where paper is cut from a square and flipped over the square border to create a balance of black and white.
After writing the 20 ideas down, I designed 8 ideas with an idea being repeated once more. These designs were developed with a pencil and made my fingers numb by the end of filling in the black.
The final product is designing the Notan with paper and cutting utensils with the hardest part being the gluing of the small pieces cut out. However, I was not satisfied with just the animals so I added their primary fighting tool. And finally I added a moon and sun using teeth for the moon and antlers for the sun.
